Jaime Hayon is Designer of the year 2010 by the prestigious Maison Object. I am sort of a fan of Jaime. "sort of" because sometimes he just doesn't convince me, like the time with his shoe line for Campers he designed.

Nevertheless I applaud and adore his sense of humor, his quirkiness and of course his eye for detail. He is one of the few who knows the balance between good and bad taste! I remember my big smile and instant happiness when I first saw the chair Poltrona in real life. One of the highlights for me, is his collaboration with my all time heroine Nienke Klunder, together the designed the American Chateau.

Jaime Hayón Spanish artist-designer Jaime Hayon was born in Madrid in 1974. As a teenager, he submerged himself in skateboard culture and graffiti art, the foundation of the detailed, bold-yet-whimsical imagery so imminent in his work today. After studying industrial design in Madrid and Paris he joined Fabrica in 1997, the Benetton-funded design and communication academy, working closely with the legendary image-maker and agitator Oliverio Toscani.
